(No Title)

Women cannot concentrate on multiple things!  A verified trend (note the emphasis on TREND) observed lately.

Things are going well enough MUD thinking has rebegun.  How will the McCalip combat system work?  I don’t know yet, but it’s going to be realistic without being as crazy as DragonRealms.  No position-based stuff…too many unrealistic special cases.  How can you be in crossbow range if you’re inside a well or up a tree?  How would the program know to forbid this?  Too many questions.

One primary assertion: spellcasting will be “investment”-based, meaning that MP is not consumed, but it is rather “tied up” while creating an effect.  This would mean all combat spells would be summons, which I like.  Fireblasts don’t make sense a lot of the time.

One speculation: mana from inanimate objects…or other people?  Wouldn’t it be cool to have a “draw” ability (yes…MTG…tapping) where you could draw out energy from your surroundings.  This would give rocks, etc., a certain amount of MP per spawn.  This could be cool.

Special note: if I am killed with a large tireiron by a certain ex-girlfriend I have officially called my death.  That would totally not be cool…but it would be pretty cool to call your own death like that.

Sidewalk chalking update: guys have written “I won’t need forgiveness” followed by a phone number underneath the “I’m sorry Kristin”s.  Very witty.

Class looms, and I sit in a computer lab to write this.  Why?  Because I’m messing around.  I will paraphrase Vonnegut: “The purpose of life is to fart around.  Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.”

Current reading: Brief Interviews with Hideous Men by David Foster Wallace.  One of the edgiest, most innovative collections of short stories I have ever seen.  A must-read for writers.

Job search update: pathetic, but still hopeful.  A couple of lines are still out there.  We’ll see.  There’s always research up here, which would be alright.

Is this long?  I can never tell on the blog screen.  I’ll post, check, and write back more later.

Quick note: “fart” is not in the blogger dictionary.  Strange…
