Before Bed

Even taking Espers out of consideration, the Chainsaw really unbalances the first half of Final Fantasy III.  Not to mention that the tilde key has allowed me to over-level about 100% above the norm for this point in the game.

The problem with Square, though, is that a lot of enemy attacks take a percentage of health rather than an absolute value, meaning that the utility of so-many-thousands of HP really diminishes beyond the first segment of levels.  So, I’m a champ defending against most physical attacks, but one “Cyclone” or whatever and I’m a foot and a half in the grave.  Very frustrating.

However, giving each of my crew the ability to cast Cure and Cure 2 kind of make the healing thing trivial, if I only had a Life 2 Esper at this point in the game.

Whatever.  It’s nice to be on a determined track to finish this game once and for all.  I really feel like my nerd status is on the line, having never been able to finish FF III.  Let alone II, but I don’t know if I could take that ordeal once again.  Once I’m on the moon I lose all interest.
