Two Things

1. As encouraging as my earlier testing was, it was not my Windows Firewall preventing my Firefox from getting to the network.  At this point, my hypothesis is “Problem with Intel wireless driver, possibly at hardware-level encapsulation of TCP packets.”  But I don’t quite know what that means.
2. Debian is perfect for my uses, and I’m looking forward to making a full migration.  This is motivated by my desire to expand my server’s services to include items like Subversion hosting (hence also Apache2 and WebDAV).  I also like running an apt-get update, apt-get upgrade to keep things secure, as opposed to endless, sporadic changelog crawling on slackware.com.
